Marshall Case Team (MCT) is USC Marshall's official undergraduate case competition team. Since 1993, we have trained students to tackle complex, real-world business challenges and represent the University of Southern California at top-tier domestic and international competitions.
Members receive weekly training directly from Marshall faculty to sharpen their analytical thinking, strategic communication, and collaborative problem-solving. Then, they put those skills to the test against students from the world's leading business schools.
Whether you are drawn to the intellectual challenge, the opportunity to travel, or a community of driven peers, MCT offers an experience that extends well beyond the classroom.

What Is a Case Competition?
A case competition is a high-stakes academic challenge in which a team of students is presented with a real, complex business problem and asked to analyze it, develop a strategic solution, and present their findings to a panel of judges (typically executives, industry leaders, and business school faculty) under time constraints.
Short Case
A focused problem solved within 3–5 hours, testing a team's ability to think quickly and communicate clearly under pressure.
Long Case
A more comprehensive challenge spanning 12–24 hours, requiring deeper analysis, financial modeling, and a polished final presentation.
Case competitions provide something most classroom experiences cannot: the pressure of a real deadline, a real audience, and real stakes. The skills you build, including structured problem-solving, financial analysis, persuasive communication, and grace under pressure, are directly transferable to careers in consulting, finance, business development, corporate strategy, and beyond.
Beyond the cases themselves, competitions often include:
presentations from senior industry leaders
structured networking sessions
social events that bring together students
The most prestigious international competitions are invitation-only, selecting one team of four students to represent each participating institution.
